Leopardo-built Fulton West Wins Office Redevelopment of the Year

The Leopardo-built Fulton West was awarded Office Redevelopment of the Year at the 30th Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards.

Chicago’s top architects, brokers, design professionals, developers, property managers and contractors gathered to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository and celebrate the achievements of the industry on March 15 at Hilton Chicago. The event raised more than $80,000 for its cause.

Conceptualized as an architectural anchor of the west boundary of Chicago’s thriving Fulton Market neighborhood, the LEED Gold-certified Fulton West is one of many successful projects Leopardo has completed with commercial real estate developer Sterling Bay.

This partially constructed building, acquired by Sterling Bay in 2014, was the basis for the redevelopment of the Fulton West complex, which now features a nine-floor, mixed-use building and a 692-car parking garage. Additional features include a ninth-floor roof deck with vegetated surfaces and outdoor grilling amenities, a fitness center, extensive retail facilities, glass-lined atrium, architectural level exposed finishes and an adjacent courtyard with landscaping, water features and walkways.

Serving as general contractor, in addition to providing preconstruction services, Leopardo worked in collaboration with architect Gensler to complete the project.

This is the third redevelopment of the year award won by Sterling Bay for a Leopardo-built project. In 2016, 121 W. Wacker was also awarded, as well as the Hillshire Brands headquarters in 2012.
