Leopardo Breaks Ground on New Health Department for Will County

Leopardo recently broke ground on a two-story health department for Will County in Joliet, Illinois.

With a population of 700,000 projected to grow to over 1.2 million in the next 30 years, Will County has been working to build safe and modern facilities to better serve its present and future generations of residents. Having marked a significant milestone in this pursuit with the opening of its new Public Safety Complex, also built by Leopardo, Will County has called on Leopardo again to construct the new Health Department facility. It will replace an existing 67,000-square-foot facility, which is one of the county’s oldest buildings.

Construction will include a complete demolition of the existing building. The new facility will feature department suites for emergency preparedness and response, environmental health, family health, behavioral health and administration, as well as a TB clinic, testing laboratory, multipurpose and conference rooms, waiting rooms and a 350-space parking lot.

Serving as construction manager, Leopardo is working in collaboration with Kluber Architects + Engineers to complete the project by the fall of 2020.
