Leopardo Completes 70,000-SF Build-out for Valent BioSciences

Leopardo completed a 70,000-square-foot laboratory and office build-out for Valent BioSciences. A worldwide leader in the development and manufacturing of products for agriculture, public health, forestry and household markets, Valent called on Leopardo to build-out its new laboratory and office, as well as consolidate its current workspaces into a single, more efficient home.

Leopardo facilitated the move of Valent’s existing equipment, including growth chambers, controlled environmental rooms and autoclaves to its new laboratory. The new space features fume hoods, exhaust devices, lab fixtures and casework, biological safety cabinets, sterilizers, drying racks, spill containment stations, as well as a nuclear magnetic resonance machine and ventilation. The lab also features systems for dust collection, chilled water, hot water, natural gas, steam, lab nitrogen, lab helium and lab pure water.

A 12,700-square-foot addition was also built, including a four-zone greenhouse and headhouse with a connecting link to the existing building and a new enclosure comprised of structural steel, metal framing, composite metal panels and a TPO roof. Other features include employee huddle rooms, a Zen garden, a new irrigation system, pavement modifications and a new entrance and rotunda featuring a custom tile mural. Leopardo utilized in-house MEP 3D modeling and coordination, as well as pull planning through the Last Planner System, to best meet the needs of the client.

Serving as general contractor, Leopardo partnered with architecture firm HOK to complete the project.
