Leopardo Project Honored with ALA Design Award

Leopardo and architect Dewberry were honored by the Association of Licensed Architects (ALA) at its Design Awards Dinner at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace on Monday, October 2. Out of 106 projects, a panel of five judges selected 41 winners and named the recently-completed Glen Ellyn Police Department a Silver winner.

The Village of Glen Ellyn turned to Leopardo and Dewberry to design-build a much-needed new police station after their previous facility proved undersized and outdated. The new two-story building opened two months ahead of schedule in June. It features secured detention facilities and an enclosed sally port, as well as evidence processing with separate secured processing room storage and vehicle exam, officer locker rooms with bathroom and showers, emergency operating center, patrol investigations and administration spaces, large community room, public restrooms and fitness area.

Members of both the Leopardo and Dewberry project teams were in attendance Monday night to receive the award.
