Leopardo Continues to Climb ENR’s Top 100 Green Contractors List

Leopardo has once again been recognized among the nation’s leading sustainable builders, rising to #66 on Engineering News-Record (ENR)’s Top 100 Green Contractors list for 2024, up from #83 in 2023. The annual ranking measures firms by revenue generated from projects registered with or certified by third-party organizations promoting environmentally responsible construction.

Leopardo attributes its continued rise to strong growth in its affordable housing market and programmatic rollouts for national retailers. In 2024, 32% of Leopardo’s total construction revenue—totaling $163.27 million—came from projects pursuing third-party sustainability certifications.

As a recognized leader in green building and sustainable construction, Patty Lloyd, Director of Sustainability, was again featured in ENR’s annual green building trends report. Lloyd—who holds LEED Fellow, WELL AP, and Living Future Accreditation (LFA) credentials—cited the combination of owner sustainability commitments, local policy initiatives, and escalating energy costs as the top drivers of sustainable construction practices today.

“Developers and owners are increasingly looking beyond initial costs and instead focusing on the long-term ROI of implementing healthy and high-performing features into their projects,” said Lloyd. “Our extensive experience across multiple rating systems enables us to guide clients through complex certification criteria and help them make data-informed decisions that align sustainability with business goals.”

Since 2005, Leopardo has delivered more than 55 certified projects encompassing over 4.9 million square feet of high-performing, healthy spaces. The firm now employs 28 sustainability-accredited professionals—including LEED, WELL, LFA, Certified Passive House Builder (CPHB), and GPRO—who drive measurable impact across Leopardo’s growing portfolio.

Projects contributing to Leopardo’s 2024 ENR ranking represented a range of rating systems, including LEED for Mid-Rise Homes, LEED Portfolio for Retail Projects, LEED for New Construction, LEED for Tenant Interiors, Enterprise Green Communities, and the National Green Building Standard (NGBS).

Notable recent projects such as Encuentro Square, Hillside Senior Living, and Sankofa Village Wellness Center exemplify Leopardo’s expertise in delivering complex, sustainable developments that enhance community resilience and occupant well-being.

Beyond its work on certified projects, Leopardo continues to reduce its own environmental footprint through corporate sustainability initiatives. These efforts—detailed in the firm’s 2024 ESG Report—focus on both corporate and jobsite sustainability initiatives.  Leopardo’s Jobsite Sustainability Strategies program empowers project teams to implement sustainability initiatives such as reducing jobsite waste, improving materials management, and advancing energy-efficient practices.
