Leopardo completed a multi-floor renovation of the common areas of Ogilvie Transportation Center at 500 W. Madison St. in Chicago. The passenger terminal serves three Metra commuter rail lines and is part of the 42-story Citigroup Center. The project consisted of a 6-phase remodel of the food court in the Citigroup Center lobby, including 20 major retail chain storefronts, as well as new seating and flooring in the open dining area. The renovations are part of the food court’s transition to a more relaxed and trendier space featuring less traditional fast-food options and more boutique eateries. Other project highlights include:

  • 23,000-SF food court renovation included reconfiguration of layout, custom furniture, storefronts, epoxy floor, millwork and new signage
  • New first-floor security/reception desk and tenant directory wall
  • Lighting upgrades on the second and fifth floor, including a large statement fixture hanging from the fifth floor atrium ceiling
  • Upgrade of public restrooms, including all new finishes, lighting, toilet partitions and new plumbing fixtures
  • Installation of a verdant feature wall with a faux vertical garden
  • Work was completed between 9 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. to avoid disruption to the stations more than 40,000 daily commuters
  • Steps were taken to maintain daily operations during construction, including the use of quick-setting materials to lay new flooring so it would be ready for foot traffic by morning
