Leopardo Rises on ENR’s 2023 List of Top 100 Green Contractors
Leopardo has again made Engineering News-Record (ENR)’s list of Top 100 Green Contractors, which ranks firms according to revenue for construction or design services generated in 2022 from projects that have been registered with or certified by a third-party organization that sets standards for reducing a building’s or facility’s environmental impact. Leopardo significantly moved up the list this year due to the phenomenal growth of its affordable housing market and several out of state projects seeking rating systems such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Enterprise Green Communities, and the National Green Building Standard (NGBS).
As an early adopter of the green construction movement in the Midwest, Leopardo is a recognized leader in sustainable building practices with extensive project experience spanning all LEED certification levels and numerous other rating systems. Since 2005, Leopardo has completed more than 4.8 million square feet of healthy-high performing space, has built more than 50 certified projects, and currently employs professionals certified in LEED, WELL, Living Future Accreditation (LFA), Certified Passive House Builder (CPHB), and GPRO. Leopardo feels strongly that the environmental impact of its work isn’t just measured by the green buildings it builds, but also by how its operations impact the environment. Accordingly, 2022 saw the rollout of Leopardo’s corporate program, aimed directly at reducing the environmental impact of its jobsites.
“When it comes to reducing the carbon footprint of the built environment, all parties have a pivotal role to play,” said Director of Sustainability Patty Lloyd. “Industry stakeholders—from owners to designers, contractors, and engineers—are evaluating projects from a life cycle perspective for opportunities to reduce the environmental impact, and it has become clear that the answer to remedying the outsized carbon impact of the built environment is by addressing ‘total carbon,’ which equates to reductions in both operational and embodied carbon.”
Leopardo is proud to rank among a class of contractors leading the way toward building a more sustainable future and making changes that will change lives in positive ways for generations to come.
