Leopardo Director of Sustainability Patty Lloyd Named Among Crain’s Chicago Business 2023 Notable Leaders in Sustainability
Leopardo Construction’s Director of Sustainability Patty Lloyd was recently named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2023 list of Notable Leaders in Sustainability. The list celebrates Chicago area leaders who are heading their organizations’ efforts to keep climate change in check, including planning and implementing actions as well as recording and reporting data to stakeholders of all kinds.
Patty joined Leopardo in 2004 and has directly served on over 28 project teams as the LEED project coordinator. She is a leader in the green building industry and has led three LEED projects from conceptual to final certification. Throughout her career she has worked with four different green building and wellness rating systems. She advises the executive team on best practices, industry trends and priorities, then writes, implements, and trains teams on new policies. Most recently she spearheaded a corporate ESG program. She touches every project with a sustainability focus, from tracking waste, coordinating energy efficiency, or diverting usable materials to facilitating achievement of third-party rating systems focused on green building or health and wellness.
She has contributed to over three million square feet of healthy/high performing space, including Leopardo’s dual-certified LEED and WELL downtown office. She championed the company’s involvement in US Green Building Council, the Illinois Green Alliance, and led the internal green team that supports initiatives like Zero Landfill Chicago, Nike Grind Reuse-A-Shoe, the Illinois Green School Project, electronics recycling, and more. She tracks Leopardo’s corporate carbon footprint and is putting in place rigorous measures to reduce the carbon of our jobsites, she has implemented numerous company-wide sustainability policies. She facilitates internal sustainability education, and assists staff earning green building credentials.

Patty holds a Masters of Sustainable Management from the University of Wisconsin Parkside, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management from Columbia Southern University. She also currently holds three green building and wellness credentials—WELL AP, Living Future Accreditation (LFA), and LEED Fellow, a designation held by less than 270 people globally. She was also awarded the inaugural Heart of Illinois Green Award from Illinois Green Alliance for a legacy of outstanding volunteer service and a dedication to advancing green construction practices. Internally, she has led the company’s formation of an ESG program and strategy. Over the last decade and a half, Patty has contributed directly to over $522 million dollars and over three million square feet of sustainable projects.
