Leopardo Welcomes Sean Twomey as Vice President of Healthcare

Leopardo Construction is proud to announce that Sean Twomey has joined the firm as Vice President of Healthcare, bringing more than two decades of experience in design, construction, and program leadership to the company’s growing healthcare team.

“In his new role, Sean will oversee the UChicago Medicine clinical laboratory project in Washington Park, part of the organization’s multi-site expansion. The lab project will consolidate essential clinical functions, create healthcare career pathways in partnership with the City Colleges of Chicago, and advance critical research initiatives. It is expected to be completed in 2027.

“Sean brings a rare blend of design, operational, and business leadership that perfectly complements Leopardo’s collaborative and client-focused approach,” said Dave Rutledge, Senior Vice President of Healthcare and Senior Living. “He shares our values and vision for growth and will be instrumental in expanding our footprint in the healthcare sector while maintaining the high level of service and integrity our clients expect.”

Prior to joining Leopardo, Sean held leadership roles with Clayco, NewGround, Drury Development Corporation, and HOK, where he managed complex projects across healthcare, civic, and hospitality markets nationwide. His experience spans every stage of project delivery—from design and preconstruction through execution—giving him a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within healthcare environments. A licensed architect and DBIA-certified professional, Sean also holds an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis.

“Leopardo’s reputation for quality, collaboration, and client partnership is unmatched,” said Twomey. “I’m excited to build upon that foundation and help shape the next chapter of growth for our healthcare market.”
