Leopardo Celebrates 45 Years Building Relationships and Best-In-Class Projects

On October 10, 1977, entrepreneur James Leopardo founded his namesake company, laying the first bricks of a legendary firm. Forty-five years later, Leopardo has grown into one of the nation’s largest and most respected contractors with offices and jobsites across multiple states. With nearly 80 million square feet of construction completed and over 500 industry awards to its name, Leopardo is a recognized leader in construction with the resources to build world-class projects with innovative processes across every major sector.

“I am proud of the work we’ve done and all we’ve accomplished, growing from makeshift sawhorse desks and cardboard filing cabinets to our first office above a drugstore in downtown Chicago, and now with multiple locations in several states,” said founder James Leopardo. “Leopardo is a family business with a legacy of hard work, and our people truly emulate the strong family values and passion for hard work upon which we are founded.”

Since its founding, Leopardo has had an extraordinary impact on the construction industry. Through the 1980s and 90s, the company grew into one of the Midwest’s most trusted builders, during which time the company in three separate years earned a top spot on Inc. Magazine’s list of the nation’s fastest-growing companies. Part of this impressive growth came from Leopardo’s successful construction of 27 Silo Electronics stores, 17 of which opened on the same day.

Today, Leopardo is a thriving, family-oriented operation that embraces every project with the same enthusiasm and care as it did the first. As a pioneer in green building who is widely recognized for excellence in safety, service, and quality, Leopardo continues to lead the construction industry into the future.
