With more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Steve Cox serves as Director of Self-Perform and Estimating at Leopardo Construction. Over the past three years, he has helped drive the strategic growth of his department by enhancing internal capabilities, expanding subcontractor and supplier networks, and playing a key role in securing new project wins.
Steve began his career with one of the largest home builders in the Chicago area. He later advanced in his career with a commercial drywall subcontractor and eventually became a senior project manager. In addition, he was the chief estimator and business development manager for a commercial carpentry firm before becoming their director of estimating.
Since joining Leopardo in 2022, Steve’s notable projects include Sonder, Silver Cross Orland Park, Rush Lisle, Sankofa Village, the Elmhurst Hospital expansion, and many others. He is known for his high technical competence, solutions-oriented mindset, teamwork, and customer-first approach. Steve is a trusted advisor to clients and colleagues alike. He works closely with Leopardo’s senior leadership to guide business planning efforts for the self-perform group and is recognized as a mentor to younger professionals in the field.
Steve holds a degree in Construction Management from Southern Illinois University. He is a member of the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry (AWCI), the Association of Subcontractors & Affiliates (ASA) Chicago, the Builders Association of Chicago, and the Associated General Contractors (AGC).
