Leopardo Completes New Hall High School

Leopardo has completed the new Hall High School in Spring Valley. The $32 million, 3-story school, which replaces a 100-year-old facility, includes a main academic building, athletic complex and performing arts center.

The new academic center includes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) classrooms, along with a learning resource center and administrative offices. Two gymnasiums, a weight training and fitness room, locker rooms, as well as a concession area make up the athletic complex. The performing arts center includes a stage with a high-end sound and recording system, art and food labs, kiln room, as well as a set design area and cafeteria with a kitchen.

Several sustainable features were also incorporated into the new school’s design, including permeable pavers, bioswales for storm water management, daylight harvesting and occupancy sensors.

The Leopardo construction force consisted of more than three dozen Hall High School alumni, including Project Manager Tony Orlandi and Project Superintendent Jason Samolinski. Company president Rick Mattioda is also a native of Spring Valley.

Serving as general contractor, Leopardo collaborated with architect Healy Bender to complete the project. The new Hall High School welcomed students in September for the start of the 2015-16 academic year, and will have its official dedication on Oct. 17.
