Leopardo Breaks Ground on the Downers Grove Civic Center Project

Leopardo recently broke ground on the 80,900-square-foot, two-story combined Village Hall and Police Station that will include space for the Downers Grove Grade School District 58 Administrative Offices.

The new civic center will provide modern workspaces that will allow for efficient and effective interactions between employees and with customers. Plans include shared spaces for a variety of public meetings and community activities, a multipurpose Council Chambers and a public plaza.

To support the police department the new building will have a separate entrance, a two-bay sally port, five-lane firing range, interview rooms, detention area, and evidence lab. Construction will also include surface parking for village staff and visitors and secured parking for police and village vehicles.

Sustainable elements to be put in place include rainwater harvesting, permeable pavers, enhanced mechanical and electrical systems, material selection and landscaping improvements.

Leopardo is working closely with the Village of Downers Grove, FGMA Architects, Hitchcock Design Group, Selbert Perkins Design, IMEG, and Eriksson Engineering Associates to complete the project by fall 2024.
