Michael T. Leopardo Promoted to President and CEO of Leopardo
Leopardo announced that Michael T. Leopardo has been promoted to president and chief executive officer effective June 1, 2018. He succeeds President Richard S. Mattioda and CEO James A. Leopardo, who will be assuming the roles of vice chairman and chairman, respectively.
Mike’s construction career spans more than 30 years, during which time he has helped grow Leopardo from a small family-owned outfit into one of the nation’s top general contractors. Most recently he served as executive vice president, providing leadership, vision and direction to all of Leopardo’s business units.
As president and CEO, Mike will oversee all day-to-day operations and will conference with the vice chairman, chairman and board of advisors on long-term and strategic initiatives. He will also focus on the strategy and standards that affect the company’s two offices, hundreds of employees and job sites, multiple service offerings and markets.
“Leopardo has truly been successful because of our customer-centric approach and our team that executes the work,” said Mike. “I look forward to continuing that success by focusing on our people and clients. As a leader, you play an important role in setting the culture and philosophy of the organization. You build the team around you with those who consistently reinforce the core values of the company. Our reputation was built on integrity and trust. These are the values that have defined us in the past and I’m confident they will continue to define us as a company in the future.”
Leopardo continues to be one of the nation’s largest and most-respected construction firms, building world-class facilities with innovative processes. Founded in 1977 by Jim, the firm has grown continuously and today employs more than 400 industry professionals and successfully completes over 400 projects annually. A pioneer in the construction industry, Jim’s drive, pledge to client service and standards for excellence are the staples the company was founded on. He will continue to provide a focused business approach and a deep commitment to quality, innovation and leadership. Under Rick and Jim’s combined leadership, Leopardo has completed more than 75 million square feet and $6.5 billion in construction to date. As president, Rick was also the driving force behind Leopardo’s long-standing commitment to continuous improvement. He implemented the company’s Total Quality Management (TQM) initiative, under which all employees continue to have an active voice in improving operations and client satisfaction.
“As founder and CEO for more than 40 years, I’ve never been more excited and confident about Leopardo’s future,” said Jim. “I’m personally grateful to all of our employees for the hard work and dedication that they have given every day throughout this company’s history. I know that spirit will live on through our new leadership and for generations to come.”
