  • 12,000-SF new coroner’s facility for Will County that combined previously separate facilities for a more efficient community complex
  • Includes administrative offices and conference rooms, private offices for county coroner and pathologist, as well as separate investigation and cold case rooms, and three modern autopsy suites, one of which is an ISO autopsy room
  • New cooler and freezer rooms increased storage capabilities from 10 to 100 bodies
  • Bullet-proof glazing on the reception area’s glass windows for added protection
  • Separate employee locker room, bunk room and break room with fully equipped kitchen as well as an outdoor green space where employees can decompress
  • Installed specialty products, such as terrazzo flooring, epoxy paint, fire rated wall protection, and stainless steel ductwork, fixtures and countertops, ensuring a sterile environment
  • Installed a unique Velcro roof (FleeceBACK RapidLock (RL) System)

Key Challenges:

Collaborated with an enclosure consultant and commissioning agent to complete a Whole Building Air Test to ensure future energy efficiency
Required extensive MEP coordination with as many as 15 different underground utilities in place not including the fiber optic line that connected the campus to 911 dispatch communications
Followed Winter Weather Construction guidelines to complete cold weather concrete pours and keep the project on schedule
