Leopardo Breaks Ground on New Coroner’s Facility for Will County

Leopardo recently broke ground on a new coroner’s facility and morgue for Will County. A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the construction site along Laraway Road in Joliet, Illinois and was attended by county officials and representatives of the facility’s construction, design, and engineering teams. This project is the most recent in the relationship between Will County and Leopardo, which has produced other successful projects, such as the 70,000-square-foot Will County Health Department and the 85,000-square-foot Will County Public Safety Complex.

The new 12,000-square-foot coroner’s facility will feature administrative offices and conference rooms, offices for the county coroner and pathologist, an investigation and cold case room, an autopsy room attached to cooler and freezer rooms, as well as storage and data rooms.

“We are excited to be working again with our friends at Will County and to deliver yet another critical component to the enhancement and service of this wonderful community,” said Leopardo project manager Tyler Nassar.

Leopardo is working closely with Will County, architects Wight & Co. and McClaren, Wilson & Lawrie, Inc. (MWL), as well as engineering firms dbHMS and HR Green to complete the project by the summer of 2023.
