Sixth consecutive year of recognition reflects long term commitment to sustainable construction across markets.
Leopardo Construction has ranked No. 79 on Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) 2026 Top 100 Green Building Contractors list, marking its sixth consecutive year on the list and its 11th appearance since 2014.
The annual ranking measures construction revenue from projects registered with or certified under third-party green building rating systems that establish standards for environmental impact, energy efficiency or carbon footprint. Leopardo’s continued recognition reflects its experience helping clients translate sustainability goals into completed projects across a diverse portfolio.
“Sustainable construction requires consistent attention to the decisions made every day on a project, from material selection and waste management to protecting indoor air quality,” said Patty Lloyd, director of sustainability at Leopardo Construction. “This recognition reflects the collaboration among project teams, clients, designers and trade partners to reduce the environmental impact of the built environment and create healthier places to live, work and gather.”
Leopardo’s sustainability work extends beyond certified projects from the adoption of internal corporate sustainability commitments to the construction of projects with highly sustainable attributes like renewable energy systems on municipal projects. Two projects currently under construction in Northbrook—a fire station and a fleet and facilities building—including geothermal systems for heating and cooling. The recently completed Downers Grove Civic Center incorporates photovoltaic vehicle canopies. These systems are designed to help municipalities reduce long-term operating costs and advance their climate goals. From a corporate goals perspective, Leopardo Construction has been a signatory to the Contractor’s Commitment to Sustainability from its inception. Participating in this program has aligned Leopardo’s values around sustainability with what factors we can control on our projects, our jobsites; resulting in our Jobsite Sustainability Strategies program that brings onsite jobsite sustainability action to all projects over $300,000.
“Our clients count on us to deliver on their sustainability commitments alongside their budget, schedule and quality expectations,” said Leigh McMillen, executive vice president of operations at Leopardo Construction. “Earning a place on this list year after year reflects the expertise and accountability our project teams bring to that responsibility. We’re proud of their work and the lasting value it creates for our clients and communities.”
Projects contributing to Leopardo’s reported green building revenue included Encuentro Square, a two-building, 89-unit affordable housing development in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood that earned Enterprise Green Communities certification, and Ten60 Bolivar Apartments, a 272,705-square-foot, seven-story mixed-use residential development in Cleveland, Ohio, that achieved LEED Gold certification.
Other contributing projects included Churchview Garden Homes & Townhomes in Peoria, Illinois, a 57,432-square-foot, 47-unit development spanning seven multifamily buildings, and Hillside Senior Housing in Hillside, Illinois, a 44,100-square-foot, five-story independent living development with 42 apartments. Both projects are pursuing Enterprise Green Communities certification. Sankofa Village Wellness Center, a 55,530-square-foot, three-story facility in Chicago’s West Garfield Park neighborhood, is pursuing LEED certification and brings healthcare, fitness, financial wellness and community services together under one roof. Several ground-up retail projects across the country also contributed to Leopardo’s reported green building revenue.
“Combining green building expertise with sustainable construction practices creates value for clients and communities,” Lloyd said. “Accredited, experienced staff play an essential role in that process. Understanding why green building requirements matter helps teams make informed decisions and carry sustainability goals through construction.”
Since undertaking its first LEED project in 2005, Leopardo has continued to advance both green building delivery and sustainable jobsite practices. Its accredited and experienced staff support projects pursuing certification while helping project teams understand and implement the practices behind those requirements.
