Leopardo Construction Project Honored with 2024 Firehouse Station Design Award

The newly completed Bartlett Fire Protection District Station No. 1 was recently honored in Firehouse Magazine’s 11th annual Station Design Awards, receiving the 2024 gold award for renovations. This prestigious, national competition issues gold, silver, and bronze awards across seven categories, with winners selected by a panel of seven judges, including fire chiefs and architects who are experienced in recent design and construction.

The 9,000-square-foot renovation, located at 234 North Oak Avenue in Bartlett, Illinois, upgraded numerous areas across the facility, including bunk rooms, locker rooms, kitchen and dining area, day room, board room, public and private restrooms, and administrative offices. Work included the addition of a conference room, executive session space, private showers and restrooms for firefighters, and improved bunk room features, as well as a reconfiguration of the administration area, replacement of apparatus bay overhead doors, upgraded finishes and millwork including new dais for the board room, and an updated exterior façade and roofing to modernize and enhance the facility’s appearance. Leopardo also added a carbon monoxide monitoring and exhaust removal systems and upgraded plumbing, electrical, audiovisual, security, communications, and tele/data systems.

Leopardo worked closely with the Bartlett Fire Protection District and architect 845 Design Group Architecture + Planning to complete this comprehensive renovation project within a very tight budget.
