Leopardo Project Honored at the 35th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards
The Leopardo-built Hub at Prairie Shores project was honored as a finalist for Commercial Development of the Year by the Greater Chicago Food Depository at the 35th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards on March 9 at the Hilton Chicago. The event brought together more than 1,850 of Chicago’s top architects, brokers, developers, property managers, contractors, and design professionals to celebrate outstanding achievements in all facets of the industry and to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
The new two-story clubhouse was inspired by the sandy lakefront dunes that once swept across the site. The focal element of the building is a design-build 20’ high, one-of-a-kind, curved curtainwall which provides an inviting community setting with natural diffused sunlight and views of nature.
“We are proud to have worked with such a great team to deliver this beautiful project, and are incredibly honored to see our work recognized in this prestigious capacity,” said Leopardo senior vice president Mike Mastin.
The building promotes health and wellbeing by providing access to nature through an occupied roof deck and landscaped plazas as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga studios, healthy food options, and programmed activities. Given the site’s proximity to the lakefront, special consideration was given to the migratory paths of native birds with the use of a bird-safe acid etched glass, the first of its kind in Chicago. Residents can also enjoy a café area with standalone vending, a great room with lounge seating, fireplace and TVs, game room and kitchen area with a pool table, TVs, kitchen bar, and high-top seating, as well as a co-working lounge with booth seating for groups or individuals.
Leopardo collaborated with Golub & Company, Farpoint, Gensler, Goldman Sachs, and Stanton Interior Concepts to complete the project.
