Leopardo Director of Sustainability Patty Lloyd Named Among Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Sustainability Leaders for Third Year in a Row
Leopardo Construction’s Director of Sustainability Patty Lloyd was recently named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2024 list of Notable Leaders in Sustainability. This is her third appearance on the list, which showcases professionals redefining corporate commitments, overseeing decarbonization policy, designing high-performing and healthy buildings, heading sustainable investing and more.
Lloyd leads Leopardo’s ESG operations and project sustainability efforts, including client ESG requirements, third-party green building and health and wellness rating systems. She has extensive green building experience compiled of work on over 50 projects in rating systems like LEED, the WELL Building Standard, Enterprise Green Communities, NGBS, and Green Globes. Most recently her focus has been on executing green building requirements for Leopardo’s thriving multifamily market. She expertly navigates the different systems and works with clients to understand where there is overlap. For example, Encuentro Square – an affordable housing project located in the City of Chicago – must comply with Enterprise Green Communities, a third-party green building rating system aimed at the affordable housing market, the ComEd Affordable Housing New Construction Program, and Leopardo’s corporate jobsite sustainability policies.
“Patty is one of the sharpest and most experienced minds in our industry when it comes to green building. She is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to green building and we are thrilled to see her contributions recognized,” said Leopardo Executive Vice President Pierre Cowart. He added that Patty has championed green building at Leopardo for the last two decades and that under her leadership the company has been able to make significant strides in reducing its carbon footprint.
Throughout her career, Patty has made a measurable impact on the construction industry and has dedicated her time and talents to furthering green building initiatives. She chairs the USGBC Design & Construction Consensus Committee, which has been instrumental in the development of LEED version 5, and she previously served and chaired the Materials & Resources Technical Advisory Committee. Patty is a long-time volunteer for Illinois Green Alliance, including a 5-year term on the board of directors and a board chair term in 2018. She has also served on the steering committee of the Building Green Sustainable Construction Leaders and founded the Chicago Sustainable Construction Leaders. She has been a local leader for the International Living Future Institute since 2020 and currently serves as co-chair of the ILFI Illinois Regional Member Community.
