The Leopardo-built Glen Ellyn Police Station has won the Justice Facilities Review Award from AIA’s Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ). The 30,000-square-foot, two-story police headquarters on four acres replaces the undersized previous facility in the ground floor of a former junior high school.
Leopardo recently completed a renovation of the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, converting the former police headquarters into the new College of DuPage Innovation DuPage Center.
The Leopardo-built Will County Public Safety Complex was honored at the American Public Works Association (APWA) awards banquet.
The new facility will feature department suites for emergency preparedness and response, environmental health and more.
The program recognizes excellent architectural design in Chicago and Indiana, as well as the talent bringing those designs to life.
The new Will County Public Safety Complex includes a 911 police and fire dispatch center serving 31 communities.

The new facility will provide increased security, space and privacy. Once complete, the new 2-story station will include detention facilities and an enclosed sally port, as well as evidence processing with storage and vehicle exam, emergency operating center, patrol investigations, administration, community room and fitness area.
Located at 201 W. National St. in Reed-Kepler Park, the one-story park district facility includes three gyms, a fitness area, as well as a play area for children.
