The Leopardo-built Glen Ellyn Police Station has won the Justice Facilities Review Award from AIA’s Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ). The 30,000-square-foot, two-story police headquarters on four acres replaces the undersized previous facility in the ground floor of a former junior high school.
The Leopardo-built Independence Library and Apartments has won ENR Midwest’s Project of the Year.
The new office space was built to reflect the energetic, employee-oriented culture of the company, with open office space, vivid color palettes, communal dining areas and an employee game room.
The expansion project included flexible workspace, minimal private offices and staff cafe with a breakroom that can also be used to accommodate town hall meetings.
In keeping with the firm’s commitment to employee wellness and environmental sustainability, this project is one of the first in Chicago seeking WELL v2 Gold certification.
The build-out took place on the 9th floor of Sterling Bay’s latest development at 210 N. Carpenter St., which was also built by Leopardo and houses the company’s dual LEED and WELL-seeking Chicago office.
Leopardo was recognized in the construction category for its recently-completed TAO Chicago project, which consisted of a 34,000-square-foot structural renovation and build-out of the 126-year-old historical landmark building at 632 N. Dearborn St.
The building is owned by LaSalle Investment Management and recently made headlines as the new location of the Chicago Bears headquarters.
In addition to serving as general contractor, Leopardo is also one of the building’s first tenants and is occupying the entire third floor.
The facility includes outpatient surgical suites, clinical office space, more than 65 exam rooms, a full advanced imaging center, physical and occupational therapy spaces, operating and procedure rooms, space for additional diagnostic and treatment services, retail space serving building tenants, as well as an attached 500-space parking deck.
Located at 4022 N. Elston on Chicago’s Northwest side, the library will serve to enrich the surrounding neighborhoods.
